Therapeutic & Deep Tissue Massage in Cambridge

Every body is different, so every massage I offer is different, too. I combine therapeutic and deep tissue massage techniques with a responsive, whole-person approach, tailoring each treatment to what you need on the day.

What is therapeutic and deep tissue massage?

Every body is different, so every massage I offer is different too. I combine therapeutic and deep tissue massage techniques with a responsive, whole-person approach, tailoring each treatment to what you need on the day.

Therapeutic massage uses a range of techniques to work with areas of tension, discomfort and restricted movement, while also supporting relaxation and a greater sense of ease in the body.

Deep tissue massage is one of the techniques used in therapeutic massage. It uses slow, firm strokes and direct pressure to work with the deeper layers of muscle, fascia and connective tissue, particularly in areas that feel tight, tense or restricted.

Even though deep tissue massage can involve strong pressure, it shouldn't be painful. When I'm working on areas that are particularly sore or tight, you may sometimes experience what people describe as 'good pain': an intense, dull ache that feels as though it's 'hitting the right spot'. My aim is for you to be able to relax deeply throughout the treatment. With this in mind, I adjust the depth, pace and techniques I use according to your preferences and how your body responds.

At Touchstone, I draw on both Eastern and Western bodywork approaches, combining techniques from holistic and deep tissue massage with what I’m learning through my ongoing training in advanced clinical massage. The result is a treatment that can be focused where you need it while still considering the body as a whole.

Is therapeutic massage right for me?

You don't need to have a particular problem to benefit from therapeutic massage. You may simply want some time to slow down, relax and reconnect with your body.

You might also choose therapeutic massage because you're experiencing muscular tension, stiffness or restricted movement, or because you're looking for support in managing persistent aches and pains. Treatment can be focused on particular areas — such as the back, neck and shoulders — while still taking into account how the rest of your body feels and moves.

Whatever brings you for a massage, we'll talk about what you'd like from the treatment beforehand and tailor the session accordingly.

What to expect from your treatment

We'll begin by talking about how you're feeling, any areas you'd particularly like me to focus on, and what you'd like from your massage. This gives you an opportunity to tell me about any pain, injuries or health conditions that may be relevant to your treatment.

During the massage, I'll use a combination of techniques tailored to your individual needs. I may work more deeply in some areas and more gently in others, and I'll check in with you where appropriate about pressure and comfort.

Your comfort matters throughout. I encourage you to let me know at any point if the pressure feels too strong or too light, or if anything feels uncomfortable or doesn't feel right. I'll use your feedback alongside my professional judgement to adapt the treatment as needed. My aim is to create a treatment that feels both effective and deeply relaxing.

Treatment lengths and prices

60-minute massage — £65
90-minute massage — £90

For your first appointment, I allow an additional 10 minutes for your initial consultation at no extra charge. This means your first 60-minute massage is booked as a 70-minute appointment, and your first 90-minute massage as a 100-minute appointment. The additional time gives us an opportunity to discuss your health, what has brought you for massage and what you'd like from your treatment without reducing your massage time.
